Life on the Edge: An Entrepreneur’s Story of Survival during COVID-19
Life on the Edge is my story about surviving COVID-19 as an entrepreneur and small business owner outside of Philadelphia. I started documenting the happenings of each day about two weeks into lock down so that when I look back on this time I will be able to remember it for exactly what it is.
My goal with Life on the Edge is to provide an inside look into a small business struggling to survive, my first major crisis as a leader, and ultimately the process of saving a small company during a global disaster. I hope that by sharing my experience I might help other entrepreneurs and business owners during this time.
In Episode 33 of Life on the Edge, my focus comes back to my team. It is easy to get caught up in all the things that need my attention right now - creditors, vendors, banks, clients, new business, investors, recruits, and the list goes on - but as the leader of my team, it is absolutely vital that I stay connected to my teammates and tuned in to their feelings through this.
I recognize that I'm getting worn out by how long this is dragging on, and I know that I'm feeling like this, so are my teammates. I also know that without my team sharp, engaged, and enthusiastic about getting us through this and positioning the company for success post-pandemic, we will not get there. So it is a top priority for me, and any leader, to stay connected to our teammates and support them through all of this.
